Mormon Metalmark
Apodemia mormo

The Lytle Ranch area of Washington County, Utah, is the perfect place to find these small beautiful
butterflies since Bugguide says their habitat is "mostly open sunny gravelly or rocky areas, sometimes
dunes, usually sloping, where hosts - Eriogonum species - grow." That perfectly describes
the Lytle Ranch area.  © Carol Davis 5-12-2013

I had completely forgotten I'd even taken these pictures until eight months later when I was
going back through my photographs. Erigonum plant species, that are the hosts for the
Metalmark butterly, are prevalent in Utah.  © Carol Davis 5-12-1013
