Leaf-cutter Bee Nests

Just to lay a little foundation:  I purchased a Mining Bee house with some cardboard tubes to
try to attract nesting bees.  It seems the only bee I attracted was the very cute Leaf-cutting Bee.
On November 12, I cut open one of the tubes to see what was inside and this is what I found:

leaf-cutting bee nest
Two sections of plugs

one plug
This is the first one

open egg case
Contents of the first one

close-up of nest contents
Is that a parasite?

next case
One of the other plugs

cleaned up
I cleaned up this one a little but it was dried up.  All the other plugs fell apart.
Maybe someone can figure out what has happened here. I'm clueless.
