Zanysson wasp
When I was taking these pictures on Antelope Island I was unaware I was looking at the
sames species
I had encountered for the first time in 2013.  © Carol Davis 6-19-2016

Zanysson wasp
This was the first one I ever saw back in 2013. It was really quite beautiful and I
found it on a sunflower plant on Antelope Island.  © Carol Davis 8-10-2013

Zanysson Wasp on Antelope Island, Utah
This one from just 10 days ago, was busy running around on a sunflower, like the first one I saw.
There were many small wasps in the area - a kind of hot spot that day.  © Carol Davis 6-19-2016

I had to photograph this with a flash because it was quite leery of me and wouldn't come out
in the sunlight. Zanysson wasps are, according to Bugguide,
kleptoparasites of other wasps in
their own family (Crabronidae)© Carol Davis 8-10-2013
