These tiny orange-brown beetles are one of the smallest of the
blister beetles and can be found on sunflowers in the
summer just about anywhere in the state of Utah. I couldn't find
anything descriptive on the internet about them but
I think they're considered an invasive species. These three
photos were taken on Antelope Island and, although you
can't tell by the photos, these sunflower centers are probably
not larger than a silver dollar. That might give you
an idea of how small these little beetles are. © Carol
