Corimelaena

small black bug

black bug with red stripes
This was a new little bug for me and they were very plentiful on this tiny red wilflower
by Payson Lakes, Utah.

red flowers
This is the tiny red wildflower that these bugs seemed to be more comfortable on, probably because of the red that
matched their own stripes.  Ebony Bugs are in the Suborder
Heteroptera
and are "true bugs".  You can read
about the difference between "bugs" and "beetles" on this page at Bugguide.net  © Carol Davis 7-19-2009
