Blister Beetles  (three photos)
Genus Epicauta

gray blister beetle
This shot makes me feel like I'm right down in the bushes with
these beetles. They are very gorgeous and can be found hanging
around in rabbitbrush in St. George, UT.  Carol Davis 10-18-2008

yet been identified to species. Carol Davis 10-6-2009

Epicauta Blister Beetles  can leave blisters on your skin if you bother
them, hence the name "blister".  Some had gold coloring on them
and others did not.  Bugguide was unable to identify them to species
but I know from Bugguide that Epicauta caviceps and Epicauta fortis
have been identified near St. George. Just like many of you, or you
friends, these beetles are vegetarians. Carol Davis, 10-18-2008
