Fruit Fly - Part II   (two photos)
Genus Paracantha

fruit fly

I saw this little fruit fly land on a sunflower plant on Antelope
Island  and decided to try to get a shot.  The day was overcast and
a little rainy at times so I think it was making the bees and flies
 a little lethargic.
This one let me take its photo and never
 even flinched.  Lucky me.

fruite fly paracantha
Some of the species in the genus Paracantha lay eggs on
sunflowers where their maggots hatch.  Carol Davis, 8-23-2009
