Fruit Fly  (two photos)
Tephritis webbii

tiny fruit fly
This was first identified as a possible Cryptotreta species but it is, in fact, a Tephritis webii species. A picture
of the wing pattern can be found at the Canadian Journal of Arthropod Identification.
  More information
on where I found it is shown below.  Carol Davis, 8-2-2009

I consider myself very lucky when I encounter a fruit fly. These little things are very
tiny and some have beautiful patterns on their wings. They usually don't hold still very
long but this one was in a contemplative mood, I guess.  I found it at the North Arm
Viewing Area of Pineview Reservoir, Weber County, Utah.  Carol Davis, 8-2-2009
