Masked Hunter with Click Beetle Prey
Reduvius personatus

Reduvius personatus
I have seen these formidable bugs for years around my place but this is the first time I have actually seen them
doing their job, preying on other insects. Bravo! © Carol Davis, 7-13-2011

predatory bug
This is a side view of it sucking the life blood out of a click beetle. It has that terrified look in its eye like
it's asking itself "Should I stop eating and run for my life or finish my dessert?" I think that would be a
dilemma for me should a similar occasion arise involving raspberry cheesecake. Masked Hunter nymphs
are the neatest thing you will ever see. They look tiny piles of moving dust.
