Nut and Acorn Weevil
Anthonomus squamosus

curculio
I got just one shot of this long-nosed weevil in the Jordanelle Dam wetlands in Wasatch County, Utah.
Weevils in this genus use their long beak to bore into nuts and acorns. According to Bugguide, the
female deposits eggs inside and the larvae eat their way out.  Carol Davis 9-30-2012
