Potter Wasp  (two photos)
Genus Microdynerus

Macrodynerus potter wasp
This little wasp is like no other I have photographed (but aren't they all) because of the unique red on the tip
of the abdomen and on the thorax, as well.  I found it in the Jordanelle Dam wetlands in Wasatch County,
Utah.
There seems to be little on the internet about Microdynerus wasps. © Carol Davis 6-14-2015

potter wasp
Along with the red on the abdomen, legs and thorax, this wasp has a beautiful white pattern on the bulbous
abdomen.  Buggguide (Matthias Buck) helped identify this wasp for me.  © Carol Davis 6-14-2015
