Robber Fly
Genus Efferia

golden robber fly
This Robber Fly hitched a ride with me as I was birding and bugging on the road to Lytle Ranch in Washington
, Utah.  It posed so perfectly while it cooled off on the dashboard of my air-conditioned car.  The golden hues of
this magnificent beast were amazing.  I can't even count how many times I've had Robber Flies of
every shape and size
zoom inside my car and ride around with me, both in Southern and Northern
Utah.  I consider them a good
luck charm with wings. I always say that I'm going to find something good when they make an appearance.
I have to admit, though, they're tough to get back out of the car. © Carol Davis 5-12-2013
