Cerapoles wasp on Antelope Island
I found quite a few wasps with white trim in 2016 but none quite so striking
as this

black and white wasp in Utah
I have to hand it to Bugguide when they can narrow down a wasp like this. There are so many
wasps in this world - over 5000 species.  © Carol Davis 9-27-2016

wasp that preys on spiders
Bugguide states:  "These wasps are cleptoparasites of other Pompilidae. They lay an egg on the
paralyzed spider prey of other spider wasps when the prey is left unattended during nest
construction. The larva that hatches eats the host egg and then the spider. Some species may
have several generations per year, probably host dependent."  © Carol Davis 9-27-2016
