Tachysphex terminatus group
This small wasp with a red-tipped abdomen (something I've never seen before) was just
one of many small wasps on Antelope Island that were hanging around the sunflowers.
You can see more wasps in this wasp group on Bugguide.
While on the Island, I managed to get a few pictures of other wasps while slapping at deer flies
and dodging paper wasps. By the way, don't ever wear a blue shirt when you're out and about
on Antelope Island because the deer flies think it's a food truck painted
their favorite color. © Carol Davis 6-19-2016
