Stilt Bug   (three photos)
Neoneides muticus

Neoneides muticus
Having never seen a Stilt Bug before, I was torn between this being an Assassin Bug or a
Stilt Bug.  Bugguide helped me ID him. Stilt Bugs have a club at the end of the antenna. I only
saw this bug one day in my garden but it was fun finding a new species. Carol Davis 6-22-2009

The Stilt bug Neoneides muticus is omniverous, dining on leaves and flowers and also on
small insects such as thrips.
It seems like they really like the plant common mullein.
Iowa State University has a small article on these. Carol Davis, 6-22-2009
