Tachinid Fly
Oestrophasia signifera

tachinid fly
This orange fly with striped wings was hanging out in my back yard in Taylorsville, UT Carol Davis, 6-27-2012

Oestrophasia signifera
I was able to get only two shots of this fly before he shot out into the void.  The flash from my camera
almost washed out the wing pattern in this picture. Carol Davis, 6-27-2012

According to Bugguide.net, fly larvae in this subfamily of tachinid flies (Dexiinae)
are parasitic on beetles, butterflies and moths. I found this adult on Antelope
Island.  Carol Davis, 8-20-2010
