Tachnid Fly
Genus Gymnoclytia

gymnoclytia tachnid fly
This pretty little fly that I found in the Jordanelle Dam wetlands is in the family of tachnid
flies whose larva are parasites of "true bugs", according to Bugguide.net.  Notice that
it has
an "M" tattooed with style on its abdomen (Mother, perhaps?).  © Carol Davis 8-5-2012
