Thynnid Wasp
Genus Methocha

tiphid wasp
This one sunflower plant is the only place on Antelope Island where I saw
these small, long-bodied wasps and it was a popular spot for many different
kinds of  wasps the last half of the summer.  Carol Davis, 9-3-2010

long-bodied wasp
These male wasps were very camera shy and hard to photograph but
this horri
ble
photo does show the wing structure, so I'm posting it
anyway.  Females of the Methocha wasps look like ants (wingless)
so it's pretty hard to find one.  They are parasitoids of
 Cincindelinae (tiger beetles).
