Common Grass Veneer  (two photos)
Crambus praefectellus

Crambus praefectellus in Utah
You don't get to see the underwings very often
on these closed-up little moths. I got this lucky
shot as it was taking off on Antelope Island,
Davis County, Utah.  Carol Davis 10-15-2019

common grass veneer moth
Crambus praefectellus, as larvae, feed on grass and grain.
These are common yard moths and you can find them
at porch lights or just flitting through the grass.  They have
beautiful markings for such a destructive species.  This one
was in Taylorsville, Utah. Carol Davis, 7-1-2009
