Flower Moth
Schinia albafascia

Schinia albafascia
I knew this had to be a new species of Flower Moth for me. It was flitting around
in the rabbit brush in the Jordanelle Dam wetlands in Wasatch County, Utah.  Below
is a picture of the under wings and the head.  © Carol Davis 8-21-2013

It was not sitting still for long and I think there might have been another one in the
area. This moth in the larval stage feeds on rabbit brush and, as you can see, eats nectar
as an adult. It's always exciting to find a Schinia moth because they are usually
quite pretty and can be mistaken for a butterfly.  © Carol Davis 8-21-2013
