Once in a while my porch light collects a good one and this was one of those.
I have had a heck of a time trying to find a moth on Bugguide that looks
anything like this. It has such a beautiful shape and color. © Carol Davis 5-9-2017

Drepanulatrix species
Today, January 30, 2018, Bob Biagi from Bugguide identified it as a
Drepanulatrix species, possibly D. falcataria.  It's nice to have it given
a home.  According to Bugguide, all Drepanulatrix caterpillars feed
on Ceanothus plant species.
