Gnophaela
vermiculata
"Police Car Moth"

I found a migration of these along the road to Powder Mountain
this lovely August day. All of the
ones I saw had the middle white spot in the top row bleeding down into
the bottom row of spots. This
is atypical for the species in the US and seems to be a local
coloring. © Carol Davis, 8-2-2009

This shot I took in 2004 at Brighton, Utah
also shows the same coloring pattern. © Carol Davis, 8-8-2004
