Western Spotted Orb Weaver
with Paddle-tailed Darner
Neoscona oaxacensis and  Aeshna palmata

neoscona spider
I spotted this twosome from the road on Antelope Island and screeched to a halt, hoping that
I would be able to save this large beautiful darner, but it was already too late. © Carol Davis 8-17-2016

The darner made a very nice meal for this spider and probably the last large one of
the season.  I only saw a few other large dragonflies this day but there were lots of
other
smaller ones, mostly variegated meadowhawks, as well as lots of
little damselflies.  © Carol Davis 8-17-2016
