Jumping Spider with Neoscona Prey
genus Phidippus

orange phidippus
I was cruising slowly along in my car on Antelope Island
when I saw a moving blob in the bushes. It was this couple -
one of them an unwilling participant in a deadly dance
down through the foliage.  © Carol Davis 7-16-2019

            and white abdomen
No one on Bugguide knows what species this immature
Phidippus jumping spider is.  The Neoscona Orb Weaver
was not moving any more. Unfortunately, it was probably
getting ready to molt and was not in a web when attacked.
July is a big spider month for the island. You can see a video
I made of the encounter here. © Carol Davis 7-16-2019
