Yellow Sac Spider with Prey
"Long-legged Sac Spider"

Genus Cheiracanthium

yellow sac spider eating crane fly
This is one of the few times I have ever seen a Yellow Sac Spider actually eating something. Most
of the time they are either running around the inside of my house, the babies are dangling from my
ceiling, or they are being
eaten by another spider.  I think this is Cheiracanthium inclusum
because
they are the ones found
outside, according to Bugguide.net, and they have a mottled appearance to
their abdomen. Whichever this species is, I'm glad she's a hard-working gal.  © Carol Davis 9-7-2013
