Baby American Avocets learning how to fend for themselves.  One of the parents was off snoozing
while the two little babes wandered around eating.  Periodically mom (or pop) would wake up

and call out loudly to see where they were.  Once satisfied they were okay, the parent  went

right back to sleep and I kept watch for awhile. © Carol Davis, 5-28-06
