House Sparrow
Passer domesticus

nesting house sparrows
I had to shoot this picture through my car windshield. Luckily I had my binoculars with
me when I arrived home today and saw something sticking out of the male sparrow's
mouth.
Since it was November 26, I was quite surprised to see it was holding nesting
material and both the male and female were waiting for me to go in the house before
entering the spruce in which they chose to nest. It's November, for heaven's sake!

Normally they aren't supposed to nest until at least January, but our mild month must
have them a little confused. Birders aren't fond of House Sparrows, but I love them.
They are fun to watch, especially at the bird bath! © Carol Davis 11-26-2017
